Barnsley have completed the signing of Coventry striker Michael Mifsud on loan until the end of the season.
The Tykes, who had hoped to sign the Malta international on a permanent three-year deal, have beaten off interest from several rival clubs in the Championship and Spain's La Liga to land the 27-year-old.
Mifsud's Malta international striker partner Daniel Bogdanovic completed a permanent move to Oakwell last week from Lokomotiv Sofia for an undisclosed fee and the pair could spearhead the Tykes' attack in Tuesday's derby clash at Sheffield Wednesday.
Mifsud, who began his career in Malta with Sliema Wanderers, has had spells in Germany with Kaiserslautern and in Norway with Lillestrom before joining Coventry in January 2007.
He has made over 60 appearances, scoring 20 goals, for Malta since making his international debut in 2000.
