Northampton midfielder Alex Dyer has signed an extension to his contract to keep him at Sixfields until June 2010.
The 18-year-old Cobblers youth team product, who has made already 14 appearances for the first team, has signed a 12 month extension and is delighted to map out his future.
He said: "It's been frustrating being in and out of the team but I feel I am progressing here and I'm delighted to have sorted the contract out early so I can play now without worrying about my future."
He added: "My target is to break into the first team now and with a lot of games coming up I'm confident of taking my chance."
Manager Stuart Gray said: "I saw straight away the qualities Alex had when I first joined the club. He hasn't progressed as much as I hoped but I have seen signs that he is coming back to his best and he is now pushing those in front of him.
"Potentially he is a very good player and that is why we have tied him up now. The last thing we would have wanted was for him to walk away in the summer for nothing."
