Former Wales manager Mark Hughes has leapt to the defence of Craig Bellamy and insisted the player's commitment to the national team is beyond question.
Bellamy, who was reunited with Hughes at club level following a January move from West Ham to Manchester City, was involved in a verbal spat with a supporter following Wales' 1-0 friendly defeat to Poland in Portugal on Wednesday night.
"I am not quite sure of the circumstances why Craig felt he had to pull the guy up but if it was in regards to questioning Craig's commitment to the Wales cause the guy is totally out of order," Hughes said.
"No-one can question Craig's commitment to Wales and his country and his team. He's the captain, for goodness sake. I watched the game and he led by example.
"I think maybe there was a little bit too much sun and a little bit too much alcohol for the guy involved.
"I don't think there should be too much of an issue about it."
