Preston manager Alan Irvine has swooped to ease his defensive injury worries with the signing of Andrew Davies from Stoke on a one-month loan deal.

The centre-back is eligible to play against Norwich on Saturday, helping fill in for the injured Callum Davidson as well as long-term casualties Liam Chilvers, Neal Trotman and Michael Hart.

Davies, a former England Under-21 international told the official club website: "I`m really looking forward to it, it'll be a good opportunity for me. I haven't played for quite a few months so it will be a good challenge for me."

He added: "I've played against Preston a few times and they're a good team. I've just come here to play football and try and help the lads achieve promotion."
