Laws bemoans Wednesday defeat

Sheffield Wednesday manager Brian Laws was furious after another below-par display from his side ended in a 1-0 defeat to Barnsley.

The Owls were on top of the world 10 days ago after their historic derby double over Sheffield United, but they have lost successive matches to local rivals Doncaster and Barnsley and have won only two of their last 11 league matches.

Laws said: "I`ve got to try and not go over the top, but I was very angry with our first-half performance, particularly our negative play."

He added: "We're at home and we've got a great crowd behind us and we played with fear in our bellies in the first half. I`ve never seen us so negative with our passing.

"Second half they defended for their lives, we camped in their half, but just could not break them down."
