Ipswich boosted their play-off hopes with a narrow 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest at Portman Road.

Goals in either half saw Ipswich close the gap on the Coca-Cola Championship top six to four points.

A 14th-minute James Perch own goal and a David Wright effort on 60 minutes proved to be enough for the home side, with Nathan Tyson netting a consolation for Forest.

Kris Commons added another stunning strike to his collection as Derby secured a third consecutive victory, 4-1 over Blackpool, to ease their Coca-Cola Championship relegation fears.

Commons opened the scoring after just eight minutes following a mistake from Blackpool defender Stephen Crainey.

Rob Edwards deservedly equalised for the visitors with a 31st-minute header and the Seasiders looked the more likely to go on and secure all three points until Commons produced a moment of pure class.

The Rams secured the points with late goals from Paul Green and Nacer Barazite.
