Shearer setback for Chairboys

Published Add your comment

Wycombe manager Peter Taylor's preparations for the trip to Lincoln have taken a setback with the news that goalkeeper Scott Shearer will miss the rest of the season.

Shearer recently lost his place to Jamie Young but will have an operation to remove a plate in his ankle - which he injured last season - which will end his campaign.

Taylor said: "We were hoping to wait until the summer to sort it but it's been aggravated in recent weeks."

Taylor's only other injury worries remain defender TJ Moncur, who played for the reserves last week as he returns from a knee injury, and Lewis Hunt.

Hunt has been out since Boxing Day with a broken metatarsal but could be back within a fortnight. Gavin Grant remains unavailable for selection due to personal problems.
