AJ Styles' reaction to not having WWE title match at WrestleMania 33

The major WWE championship matches at WrestleMania 33 have been set, but AJ Styles is not in either of them.

Brock Lesnar is scheduled to take on the Universal champion Goldberg at the WWE's biggest show of the year, while Bray Wyatt will be defending his WWE title against Randy Orton. Styles, however, will not be part of a title match and is rumored to be involved in a clash with Shane McMahon instead.

While this might anger fans of The Phenomenal One as they believe he is one of the best talents in the WWE and should be competing for championships at WrestleMania with another technical wrestler, the man himself is not that bothered by it.

Speaking recently as a guest on the Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast, according to IWNerd, Styles gave his thoughts on taking part in a non-title match at Wrestlemania 33, saying that he isn't upset by it as it means he will probably be a part of the main show once more.

With so many titles now on offer in the WWE after the brand split, the former WWE champion said that some are most likely not going to be booked on the main show, so he is happy he has his spot.

He said: “I look forward to WrestleMania. You have to understand, this was something I never thought I would have the opportunity to be in. I remember watching the WWE Network and thinking wow, I am never going to be able to be part of a WrestleMania. I tried to play the game that it’s not really a big deal to me, but it kind of is.

“It’s WrestleMania, it’s the biggest thing going on in favor of what we do, so that was a big deal, so to be at WrestleMania, especially with all the talent we have and to be there.

"Think about how many championship matches we have, there is no way we will be able to present them at WrestleMania—at least on the main show, so to be part of WrestleMania would be a big deal to me”

It's great to see Styles be so humble despite not being given a title match at WrestleMania 33. His skills and technical ability mean WWE fans have faith that he will be able to put on a great match with Shane-O-Mac, just like he did last year with Chris Jericho, and hopefully, finally get his WrestleMania moment.
