Chris Paul was sensational for the Los Angeles Clippers against the Utah Jazz on Monday night.Scoring 33 points on 11-of-21 shooting, the point guard went 5-for-11 from beyond the arc and added six rebounds, seven assists and a steal in an all-around effort. However, there were two negatives that came along with the great individual performance.First, his team lost 114-108. Secondly, he got into an altercation and looked silly against 7’1” Jazz center Rudy Gobert, who is over a foot taller than him.Check out what happened below. Battling for position on the offensive glass, Gobert approached the rim after a shot from his teammate was released. While the shot happened to go in, the big man was ready to swallow up a rebound in case of a miss. That’s when Paul decided to dangerously shove him forward underneath the basket, which Gobert took exception to.As someone who has battled a few injuries in his career, Gobert didn’t appreciate the extra-curricular activity on what should have been a common play. Paul was assessed a technical foul as the result of the shove and the two had to be separated.Of course, NBA fans chimed in immediately on Twitter. Some, like the guy below, backed up Gobert, who showed restraint by not physically retaliating after the cheap shot.

However, others, like the man below, thought that Paul would win the hypothetical one-on-one fight if the two weren’t separated by teammates.

Unfortunately this isn't the NHL and players can't go at it mid-game. This would have been a very interesting fight to watch.

Shoving a guy who is over a foot taller than you is admirable and shows leadership, according to the fan below.

For others, it might be considered to be a stupid idea. (Most people probably fall into this category.)

One fan brought up a good point.

Perhaps the two were still angry about getting snubbed and decided to yell at each other about it.

In all seriousness, this was a very physical game. Paul threw in cheap shots multiple times on Gobert after Gobert elbowed J.J. Redick in the neck earlier in the game.

Luckily for all of us, the two teams square off again in 12 days. You can assume that the game will be as chippy and physical as this one was, as both teams are currently in the middle of the back, battling for position within the Western Conference playoff picture.
