Cast your mind back to Euro 2016 and you’ll remember the ugly scenes of rival fans fighting.
Russian fans were involved in unsavoury clashes with other fans both inside and outside of the stadium, with them using weapons to attack innocent football supporters.
It made people fall out of love with the beautiful game with memories of hooliganism that dominated the 70s and 80s. Once again, it portrayed football in a very bad light giving off the impression that all fans just want to get drunk and fight.
However, the vast majority of football fans are well behaved during matches and are a credit to the sport.
And an incident during Juventus’ Champions League tie against Porto has gone viral which will make you fall in love with football once again.
Juventus beat the Portuguese side 1-0 to ease through to the quarter-final 3-0 on aggregate.
But the Porto fans were in no mood to take their anger of crashing out of competition on the Juventus fans. Instead, they wanted to show their appreciation to their home supporters.
A video has emerged of one Porto fan climbing around the glass wall that divides to two set of fans to give one Juve fan a big hug and to hand over his club scarf.
The watching Porto supporters clapped to show their support of their one fan.
A Juve fan then returned the favour by walking over to the Porto support and trading his cap with another fan.
The beautiful moment
Take a look at the touching moment:
Paulo Dybala’s first-half penalty saw Juventus progress to the last-eight as Max Allegri’s side followed up their 2-0 win from the first leg with a 1-0 win in Turin.
It keeps Juventus’ dreams of a treble well and truly alive. They’re eight points clear at the top of Serie A, have one foot in the final of Copa Italia - having beaten Napoli 3-1 in the first-leg of their semi-final - and are now in the last-eight of the Champions League.
