Northampton manger Stuart Gray admitted he was pleased his side avoided defeat after they came from behind to draw 1-1 with Carlisle.

Former Republic of Ireland international Ian Harte put the Cumbrians ahead but the visitors hit back through Luke Guttridge.

Gray said: "After we hit the woodwork twice in the first-half, I wondered if this was going to be our day."

He added: "The most important thing was coming here and not getting beaten. The pleasing thing was getting back into the game before half-time. I felt we had done enough to warrant going in with the lead.

"In the second-half we cleared our lines properly and coped very well. We had opportunities to break a few times but the final ball was poor."
