We got a glimpse into Monaco’s future in last night’s 3-1 win over Manchester City in the Champions League.

Led my exciting 18-year-old Kylian Mbappe, who has been compared to Thierry Henry, Leonardo Jardim has a promising crop of young talent who will be on the radar of Europe’s biggest clubs.

From Mbappe in attack to Thomas Lemar and Bernardo Silva on the wings and Benjamin Mendy in defence, there are few squads with as much potential as Monaco’s right now.

As mentioned, it’s Mbappe who has received the biggest attention. The French teenager, who has scored 16 goals in 17 starts for Monaco this season, was linked with Barcelona by Spanish outlet Sport after scoring in yesterday’s game.

One glance at Mbappe and you’ll notice his speed and ability. But Rio Ferdinand highlighted the youngster’s maturity as a standout trait.

“All the words coming out of France are that he’s as good if not better than Thierry Henry was at his age,” Ferdinand said on BT Sport, per Squawka.

“His pace is electrifying, when he gets in there, he’s so cool and calm. He looks like he’s been playing at this level for so long.

“Usually pace and composure comes later but it looks like he’s got it all.”
