It's a common discussion topic amongst boxing fans; who is the greatest boxer of all time? There are many contenders which would suit such an extraordinary title.

There are so many boxers you could give that title to, whether it be legends such as Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Robinson, or more modern era superstars like Mike Tyson or Floyd Mayweather. All are worthy of such accolade.

Sometimes it can be difficult to compare one boxer from another, but that's what many did when Mayweather broke into superstardom and staked his claim to being one of the greatest of all time. Comparing his career to that of Muhammad Ali's.

However, Money himself has said in a recent interview that he doesn't like it when people compare his career to that of Ali and other legends of the sport because they helped pave the way for him to have such an illustrious career.

He said during an interview on his most recent UK tour, according to Fight Hype: "I never wanted to be like Muhammad Ali...anybody can be great on certain nights, but when you TBE, you the best forever...that's not taking shots at any legendary champion...there was nothing cool about laying on the ropes and taking punishment."

Many people have their arguments for calling Mayweather the greatest of all time because he has an undefeated record of 49-0, although that could all change if he ever does finally meet inside the ring and come officially out of retirement for one more fight against UFC fighter Conor McGregor. We'll believe this when we see it.

Yet, some people refuse to call Money greater than Ali as he never went toe to toe with some of the best boxers of the time during the heyday of his career, whereas The Greatest was never afraid to do so. This is why so many people respect Ali over Mayweather.

It took longer than it should have for Mayweather to meet inside the ring with Manny Pacquiao, and the quality of the fight suffered for it. It was well under expectation, but if it had happened a couple years earlier, there might be a lot more support by fans towards Money to being the greatest of all time.
