N’Golo Kante has been a revelation for Chelsea since arriving in a £32 million deal from Leicester City last summer.
The indefatigable French midfielder, who played a key role in the Foxes’ miraculous Premier League title triumph last season, has been magnificent once again this term.
Both Jamie Carragher and Robbie Savage have come out this weekend and said Kante should win the PFA’s Player of the Year award, while Frank Lampard believes the 25-year-old is currently the best central midfielder on the planet.
Certainly, there’s not a better defensive midfielder playing in Europe’s top leagues at the moment.
Kante is far from a flat-track bully, either. In fact, some of his standout performances - such as his instrumental displays against Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United in the FA Cup - have come against top quality opposition.
Pedro: What Chelsea players have to tell Kante in training
The France international is performing at a ridiculously consistent level and his teammate, Pedro, has revealed that the Chelsea players have to tell him to take it easy during training at times.
We can definitely believe that.
Pedro was asked during a new interview with Sky Sports: “Is [Kante] the same in training? You have to say ‘slow down, N’Golo, you haven’t got to go faster.’”
“Yeah!” Pedro responded. “He’s always running a lot in training and games. [We have to say] ’N’Golo, calm!’
“But no, he’s a very good player with a good mentality, always winning and this is good.”

Conte: Kante is better than I was!
Antonio Conte is someone who demands 100 per cent effort from his players both in matches and in training, so you can imagine that Kante’s name must be the first on the teamsheet every week.
Conte was a pretty handy midfielder himself back in the day, but the Italian admits Kante is a better player than he was.
“He’s stronger than me," Conte was quoted as saying by Goal. "I think I was stronger than him to score goals but, in the other aspects, there is no contest. He is stronger than me.”
"I like a lot these type of players [like Kante]. I was this type of player. And I always appreciated this type of player, with great generosity, great ability to work for the team. I think it's important to have this type of player if we want to win.
"Not only great talent, but players who run a lot during a game. He's an example. N'Golo is a fantastic guy, fantastic player, great commitment, great behaviour. A great example."
