With just over two weeks remaining until the WrestleMania 33 pay-per-view, one question fans still have on their mind is the whereabouts of Finn Balor. It has been well-documented over the last few weeks that the former NXT Champion has been given the all-clear to return to in-ring action, while Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter went as far as claiming that he’s due back on Monday Night RAW anytime now.

RETURN?

However, that hasn’t happened and it’s looking increasingly unlikely that’ll happen next Monday either.

Balor has teased a return on numerous occasions on social media, as well as RAW earlier this week – as you’ll be able to see below – with many believing he was just bluffing and would make an appearance.

That too didn’t happen, and it’s strange considering he’s already returned to in-ring action at a live event where he teamed with Sami Zayn and Chris Jericho to take on Triple H, Samoa Joe and Kevin Owens.

However, according to The Inquisitr, the company has a questionable reason for keeping him off television.

They’re reporting that the only reason The Demon King hasn’t returned yet is because they simply don’t have anything for him storyline-wise right now.

NO PLANS

For months, WWE fans have assumed that the company has big plans lined up for him, but in reality, they have nothing and that will come as a huge blow for both fans as well as the organisation that another big name reportedly won’t be appearing on the card.

At first, it was thought that WWE was holding off on his return to see what happens between Seth Rollins and Triple H.

The feeling was that should Rollins not be able to make it to the Grandest Stage of Them All, then Balor would be used as a replacement to take on The Cerebral Assassins.

Although there is still a lot of uncertainty surrounding Rollins’ involvement in Orlando, it looks highly unlikely that they’ll have Balor come in on two weeks’ notice to have a match of this magnitude.

Another plan that was supposedly in the works had Balor return to take on Samoa Joe on April 2, which made perfect sense as the two have fantastic chemistry from their epic feud during their time on NXT, while the Destroyer also currently has no announced plans for WrestleMania.

But again, perhaps two weeks isn’t enough to build that sort of match up and it could be a better idea to keep him away for a while to build up that anticipation, rather than having a rushed and underwhelming return for the sake of one night.
