Leicester City's players have been enjoying a resurgent run of form lately, but that hasn't distracted from the role they played in Claudio Ranieri's infamous sacking last month.

Having lost faith in the Tinkerman, a group of senior players reportedly spoke with the club's board to raise concerns over his managerial methods.

And the rest is history. Ranieri was shown the exit door on February 23 not even a year after guiding Leicester to the Premier League title.

Jamie Vardy has been particularly accused of stabbing Ranieri in the back and, earlier today, the 30-year-old revealed how he and his family have been receiving death threats.

"The story is out there, then people pick it up and jump on it and you're getting death threats about your family, kids, everything," he said, per the Guardian.

"I try to get on with it but when people are trying to cut your missus up while she's driving along with the kids in the back of the car it's not the best.

"It's happened plenty of times. It is terrifying."

It takes a lot to scare Vardy but, after this latest development, it appears he genuinely fears for his family's wellbeing.

Leicester have now responded to the striker's claims and, according to Sky Sports' Rob Dorsett, they've taken drastic action.

In the tweet below, Dorsett explains how Leicester have offered Vardy and his family "extra security" to protect them.

No matter where they originate from, death threats should never be taken lightly and Leicester have recognised that fact.

Perhaps Vardy's role in the sacking has been blown out of proportion. When Leicester's senior players were called into a meeting to discuss Ranieri, it was their duty to be completely honest about the situation.

And judging by Vardy's Instagram tribute to Ranieri, getting him sacked clearly wasn't his intention - he just wanted better for his club.

"I must have written and deleted my words to this post a stupid amount of times! I owed Claudio to find the right and appropriate words!" he wrote.

"Claudio has and always will have my complete respect! What we achieved together and as a team was the impossible! He believed in me when many didn't and for that I owe him my eternal gratitude.

"There is speculation I was involved in his dismissal and this is completely untrue, unfounded and is extremely hurtful!

"The only thing we are guilty of as a team is underachieving which we all acknowledge both in the dressing room and publicly and will do our best to rectify.

"I wish Claudio the very very best in whatever the future holds for him. Thank You Claudio for everything.
