Derby boss Nigel Clough insists that Luke Varney will return to Pride Park next week following his loan spell at Championship rivals Sheffield Wednesday.
The striker`s stay at the Yorkshire club ends after their home game against Southampton on Saturday, and Clough wants Varney in his squad for the Rams` game with Reading three days later.
"Luke will be coming straight back here and he will feature against Reading on Tuesday night," Clough said.
Illness and injury have restricted Varney to just nine games for Derby since he arrived on loan from Charlton in November before completing a permanent move for £1million in January.
Clough allowed the 26-year-old to go out on loan to gain match fitness but always stated that the player was in his plans.
Varney has made three appearances for Sheffield Wednesday and although he has not scored, he has impressed Owls boss Brian Laws.
