Carlisle defender Ian Harte returned to training on Thursday after a frustrating spell on the sidelines.

The veteran full-back was out of action for two weeks after breaking two bones in his hand on his debut against Northampton last month.

Manager Greg Abbott told the club's official website: "The advice from the doctor is that Ian should leave the injury for a little bit longer but he is a determined character and he has told me that he wants to help."

He added: "He has been on the edges of training recently just to keep himself fit and on Thursday he will join in with the full contact aspects for the first time since he broke the hand.

"We'll see how that goes and we'll make a decision from there."
