Bristol City have handed four academy players professional contracts at the Coca-Cola Championship club.

Full-back Joe Edwards, midfielder Ashley Kington and forwards Rob Stambolziev and Marlon Jackson have all been signed up for next season.

Robins boss Gary Johnson told the club`s official website: "We are delighted to have offered deals to these lads, all of whom have great potential."

He added: "Credit must go to them as we have moved up a level from seasons gone by. We are looking for Championship/Premier League potential players, rather than just those with Championship pedigree.

"They have already been training full-time with our first-team squad for a few months. We will do all we can to help them improve and to reach their potential.

"To bring four players through from the academy at this high standard is impressive, and they were the best of a good bunch."
