Lukas Podolski capped off his international career with a brilliant goal against England in last week’s friendly.

It was the perfect way to mark his 130th and final Germany appearance. Podolski let fly from 30 yards out and his effort flew past Joe Hart into the top corner.

After the game, Hart told Podolski: “It was a f*****g brilliant shot - amazing!,” according to the Galatasaray forward.

“The way it ended today was like a film,” Podolski added, via the Independent. “We win 1-0 and I score the thing.

“I know I have a left foot that was probably gifted to me by God, or someone up there, and I can always rely on it. I am proud of these last 13 years.”

Podolski made his international debut in a friendly against Hungary in 2004. As careers go, the 31-year-olds has been pretty impressive - he won the World Cup in 2014, played in the Euro 2008 final and was named Best Young Player at the 2006 World cup.

Add in the 49 international goals - including 12 in 17 appearances in 2006 - and Podolski’s resume makes for pleasant reading.

Podolski's new FIFA 17 card

As a reward for his spectacular effort against England, EA Sports have given Podolski an upgraded FIFA 17 card.

The German’s standard card has ratings of 93 in shot power, 91 in volleying and 85 in finishing.

The upgraded Podolski, though, has 99 shot power, 98 volleying and 91 finishing.
