Goldberg will face Brock Lesnar on Sunday at WrestleMania 33 in front of a packed crowd in Orlando, Florida. The entire process of getting back in the ring has been hard for the 50-year-old champion.

As the newest WWE Universal Champion, he had to best Kevin Owens at Fastlane and then immediately get ready to take the ring with The Beast Incarnate. His family will now get to see him in what will arguably be the biggest match of his career.

His family was not around while he was in the midst of the longest winning streak in professional wrestling history back in the WCW. Now, he has had to battle all the way back to get in the kind of shape that would allow him to compete with Lesnar at Mania.

He has been vocal about how the entire process has left him “miserable” in recent interviews. Now, after many thought he was talking about his experience in the WWE, he has cleared the air on Edge and Christian’s Podcast of Awesomeness.

The Myth said: It’s the toughest thing I’ve ever embarked upon, guys. I’m 13 years removed from the business. I can’t name a power wrestler who has come back 13 freaking years afterwards. And then, within 20 pounds of what he was back then.

“I’m absolutely miserable. But my family’s having fun, man. And so, every single thing, every training session, every ART massage that makes me cry, every muay thai session, it’s all worth it, man. It’s just worth it.”

Da Man is right to point out the inherent difficulty of his run during the lead up to this match. Maintaining the physical shape that he had during his peak would be all but impossible after so much time.

Goldberg’s effort has been stellar and he has promised a great match for the WrestleMania finale. All signs point to a very entertaining end of the night for fans and the champ will definitely not be miserable if he comes out on top with his family in attendance.

There is one problem with that kind of storybook ending to the night for Goldberg though - Brock Lesnar usually destroys his opponents. Even he might look a little older this time around at the Ultimate Thrill Ride.

Both men are poised to give it their all and the finale should be an absolute spectacle.
