Williamson loses appeal

Preston midfielder Lee Williamson will definitely miss his side's pivotal final game of the season against QPR on Sunday after an unsuccessful appeal following his red card at Birmingham.

Williamson was sent off for violent conduct by referee Phil Dowd following a clash with Blues midfielder Lee Bowyer, who also sent off as North End went on to win 2-1.

Williamson must now serve a three-match ban, starting on Sunday where victory for Preston over QPR at Deepdale could prove enough to secure a play-off spot if results elsewhere go in their favour.
