WrestleMania is known as The Grandest Stage of Them All, providing pivotal moments in wrestling history for over 30 years now.

It's also the best place to say goodbye to the wrestling world, and one of wrestling's biggest — literally — stars is preparing to do just that. The bummer, of course, is that it won't be in the way he wanted it to be.

The Big Show announced on Sirius XM radio that WrestleMania 33 will be his last. He's been a larger-than-life figure in wrestling for years, looked at often as the second-coming of Andre the Giant. Now, his final WrestleMania bout will be in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.

The Big Show, of course, would have preferred a showdown with Shaquille O'Neal, trying to coax the four-time NBA champion to step into the squared circle with him at WrestleMania. The plans have apparently fallen through, so he won't get the swan song he wanted.

When asked how much time he has left in the WWE during a radio interview, Big Show noted that he has "less than a year," according to a Reddit user who was tuned in.

When asked if this would be his final WrestleMania, he indicated that it would indeed be his last ride on wrestling's biggest stage.

Big Show has been a staple in wrestling for decades, notorious for his size and strength going back to his WCW days. His jump to the WWE was a monumental moment for the company, and he's been a beloved figure in the twilight of his career.

At 45 years old, it makes sense that he's ready to slow down on the wear and tear his massive seven-foot frame has gone through in professional wrestling. He's had no shortage of success, capturing title after title throughout his time with both WCW and WWE.

The big question will be if he has anything special up his sleeve for his final WrestleMania. He noted several times that he wanted to battle with Shaq in order to create a lasting, unique memory before his time was up. He'll have to settle for the battle royal, now.

He won the memorial event at WrestleMania 31, and it would only seem fitting for the biggest giant since Andre to go out winning it one last time. It's an interesting connection, especially considering he was billed as "The Giant" and the son of Andre early on during his WCW days.

It's been a great career, though, and it's nice that he made the announcement official so fans can properly prepare to say goodbye to someone who's become an endearing favorite over the years.
