With Zlatan Ibrahimovic serving his third match of his three-game suspension, Manchester United were relying on 19-year-old Marcus Rashford against West Brom. With Liverpool and Tottenham winning on Saturday, Jose Mourinho’s side desperately needing all three points to keep up the pressure on the top four. However, it was yet another disappointing draw at Old Trafford as they struggled to break down Tony Pulis’ side. It meant that United have won just six of their 15 matches at home, leaving them four points adrift of Manchester City in fourth. While United dominated possession against West Brom, they didn’t have too many chances - having just three shots on target. And the closest they came to scoring was from a Rashford free-kick with just minutes remaining. With the likes of Ibrahimovic, Wayne Rooney and Juan Mata in the squad, Rashford rarely gets a chance to show what he can offer from set-pieces.But maybe he should be given more opportunities in the future because the striker struck a fantastic free-kick from 30 yards which needed a terrific save from Ben Foster.

Rashford's free-kick

Twitter reacts

With Rashford not usually having the chance to show off his free-kick ability, there were plenty of surprised people on Twitter. Take a look:

However, not everyone would have been surprised by Rashford’s effort. That’s because his ability from a dead ball has been discussed previously - by Paul Scholes no less.

“You’ve not seen it yet, but he [Rashford] hits free-kicks in a dipping fashion, almost the way Ronaldo does,” Scholes said last season.

While he didn’t score, Rashford should surely be given a say whenever United earn a free-kick around the penalty area.

Although it’s always going to be difficult for a 19-year-old to tell Zlatan to move aside.
