After months and months of gossip and speculation, Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather are finally set to announce one of the biggest fights in recent history, an exclusive report in The Sun reveals.

Both McGregor's and Mayweather's reps have come to an agreement in terms of a date, a venue and a fee for the fight.

Talks have been ongoing between the two parties for many months, with the deal only being held up due to the UFC to which McGregor is signed to.

Though, Conor McGregor has vowed that he will not retire from the UFC industry, no matter of the outcome of the potential fight with Mayweather.

The report from The Sun claims that a source close to the fight proceedings believes an announcement is imminent.

"Both sides have agreed a fee, date and venue. It's all ready to be announced early next week", the source claimed.

White: I can see the fight happening

UFC president, Dana White has also had his say on the potential fight between the two becoming a reality.

"I think it's going to be a tough deal, because obviously (there are) a lot of egos involved in this deal and a lot of people, so that always makes it tougher," he said. "On the flip side, there's so much money involved I just don't see how it doesn't happen.

"Conor McGregor is huge. He's 28 years old. He's in the prime of his career. Floyd is 40. Floyd has always had a problem with southpaws. Conor is a southpaw and Conor hits hard."

Mayweather fancies his chances

With the fight looking almost certain to happen, McGregor has already been talking up his chances against Mayweather.

"Trust me, I will stop Floyd. You're going to eat your words. The whole world will eat their words," he commented. "Watch me take over boxing. Trust me on that. No-one in this boxing game knows what is coming."

Mayweather's response

Whilst Mayweather has also had his say, stating: "I feel he's entitled to feel the way he wants to feel, the only thing you can do is respect that.

"I didn't just become world champion overnight, it was a process, it took me longer than four years, but not as a professional, as professional it took me less than two years to become world champion."

With Mayweather concluding: "Conor McGregor they said, you finally opened your mouth - you back to talking s***, you know I say that's cool too".

The fight would smash all records in the boxing industry, making it one of the most expensive sporting events in recent history.
