The first title match on the WrestleMania main show brought about a new champion as Kevin Owens defeated his former best friend Chris Jericho.

The two fought over Jericho's United States Championship - a title that hasn't changed hands at WrestleMania since WrestleMania 31.

A new champion

Jericho and Owens have been building to this match for the last nine months and the chemistry between the two was felt throughout the Citrus Bowl.

The two highlighted just how personal their issue was with Owens even getting Jericho in the Walls of Jericho as he tried to claim his first Universal Championship.

With fans surely thinking that Samoa Joe could eventually appear to aid Owens, KO was able to win the match on his own.

It would however take a powerbomb on the apron to Jericho for Owens to finally keep him down for the three count.

Owens has now fulfilled his promise and has taken Jericho's title away from him - just as Jericho caused Owens to lose his last month.

The longest reigning Universal Champion lost his title at Fastlane in March and has now replaced that with the United States Championship, and his first WrestleMania victory.

At the event he has named KO-Mania 2, Owens put on a great match with his former idol and friend.

The two were arguably the most entertaining superstars on RAW for much of 2016 and now with rumours claiming that Jericho is set for more time away from the company, the fans could only be treated to one more match between the two.

WWE run coming to an end?

The latest rumours regarding Jericho's current run with the company which dates back to before WrestleMania last year is that it will soon be coming to an end.

Jericho is rumoured to be with the company until after the upcoming Payback event at the end of April when he will once again go on tour with his band Fozzy.

Payback will be the next WWE Network special and could see the rematch between Jericho and Owens for the US Championship.
