Rhys Williams has paid tribute to Burnley following the end of his loan spell with the Championship promotion hopefuls.

The Welsh defender returned to parent club Middlesbrough this week following the end of his 93-day emergency loan.

"I tried to work hard in my 17 games and I think it only worked out that we lost two games, which is an added bonus," said Williams. "I was delighted to play a small part and I'm absolutely thrilled to see the club in the play-offs."

"I'm buzzing at what's been achieved and it's just a shame I had to come back to Middlesbrough.

"But I will definitely be back to watch the lads at the game on Saturday and hopefully they can get the right result and take a massive step towards the final."
