Slight setback for Ipswich duo

Ipswich duo Gareth McAuley and Ben Thatcher will return late for pre-season duty due to injury.

The pair both sustained medial knee ligament damage in the latter stages of the Championship season and are now undergoing intensive treatment.

"Ben is three weeks into his injury," club physio Matt Byard told Ipswich's official website. "The knee is immobilised. I would envisage him being back playing football by the middle of July."

He added: "Gareth has a similar injury to Ben although not as severe, but again it's likely to take around eight to 10 weeks to resolve."
