Brock Lesnar managed to take another one of his challengers to Suplex City at WrestleMania 33 last weekend. This time, he dispatched Goldberg with relative ease to capture the WWE Universal title from the part-time talent. The new WWE Universal Champion’s first appearance on RAW after claiming his new title was a glorified victory lap for Lesnar. Paul Heyman walked out to the ring with his client and hyped him up in front of a packed crowd.Heyman teased that Lesnar would be taking part in some sort of match during the evening, but that never materialized. In fact, the only thing of consequence with The Beast Incarnate to happen during the entire show was a confrontation with Braun Strowman.Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com reports that fans might not see a whole lot of the Universal Champ in action after his big win. He said that Brock is not scheduled to be in action for the very first red brand pay per view after The Ultimate Thrill Ride. That means that the Payback event will come and go without Lesnar stepping into the ring to defend his crown. Braun Strowman is slotted to face off against The Next Big Thing whenever the first title defence happens. The bad news for fans is, that might not happen until June or July as Extreme Rules occurs earlier and Bad Blood follows it. This could leave the company with ample time to position matches to determine who will actually get a crack at The Mayor of Suplex City.A possible number one contender match for the Universal Championship could go down between Roman Reigns and Strowman at Payback. This storyline could linger throughout the summer as WWE creative decides what their final direction will be.

This proposed match could also turn into a “Fatal-4 way” match with larger players like Finn Balor and Kevin Owens introduced to the mix as well. Balor was the Universal champion before his injury at SummerSlam last year.

The longer layoff could be good for the company as there is a ton of flexibility introduced by approaching their booking this way. Strowman and Reigns could rekindle their feud at the same time that Balor and KO could start one of their own.

Good things come to those who wait, and it looks like the Universal Title match will be no different. The only question remaining is who will capture the number one contender spot when Lesnar defends it.
