The Big Show said goodbye to WrestleMania for good last weekend and it was bound to be a really emotional appearance for the larger than life personality. He participated in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal on Sunday and was expected to be a likely winner,

He and Braun Strowman were the two favourites heading into the event and they did not disappoint once they got into the ring. The two giant men wrecked shop against the other competitors before they were overwhelmed and sent over the ropes by a combined effort.

It comes as a bittersweet moment for the Biggest Athlete in the World because he never got his planned showdown with Shaquille O’Neal at the year’s biggest event. Show is now 45 years old and doesn’t plan on hanging around the active roster much longer.

Ahead of the event he told multiple outlets that he’s considering a full retirement in the coming year and that marks the end of a long career. Big Show has rounded himself into the best shape of his entire career headed into Mania and now the future is cloudy at best.

After the big Battle Royal, he had a very explosive reaction to being eliminated backstage. Sean Wlatman said on X PAC 12360 that the big fella didn’t enjoy having his moment cut short in that kind of way.

Waltman said: “Before the thing was even over Big Show had a bunch of guys that were in the Battle Royal back in the back and he was going off … I think it was over the stuff with him and Strowman. Because they had a moment there and I think the moment got taken from them too quick.”

Saying goodbye is always hard and for someone who has accomplished as much as the Big Show has, it can be extremely difficult. Wrapping things up on your own terms is something that everyone wants for their own end to a career.

Luckily for him, there will be other opportunities to get this one right. Contrast that ending for him with the one that The Undertaker had later in the evening as he left his gear to burn in the middle of the ring after he fell to Roman Reigns in the main event.

The difference is night and day as far as optics are concerned. Both men are legends, Taker the bigger of the two ironically, and they both got their moment down in Orlando. But, there is no question there is more closure with the second match’s end.

For Big Show, he will have to hope that his proper farewell plays out a bit better than this one did.
