New Oldham boss Dave Penney has continued planning for next season by releasing three players.

Midfielders JP Kalala and Kevin Maher have been told they will not be offered new contracts, while striker Lee Hughes, who spent the latter part of the season on loan at Blackpool, is also leaving Boundary Park.

On-loan duo Daniel Jones and Ian Westlake have returned to parent clubs Wolves and Cheltenham respectively, while veteran trio Mark Crossley, Andy Liddell and Sean Gregan have already departed.

Penney, who had his first day in charge of the club on Tuesday, is also set to have talks with Mark Allott and Stefan Stam over their futures, while striker Matty Wolfenden is considering the offer of a short-term deal.
