For the third consecutive year, Damian Lillard has taken his All-Star snub personally and wreaked havoc on the court for the Portland Trail Blazers as a result.

The dynamic point guard didn't make it to New Orleans this year despite averaging over 25 points per game during the first half of the campaign.

Portland are usually the beneficiaries and once again Dame Dolla has elevated his game to try and clinch a playoff spot for the franchise. Last night he reached a level of historic proportions.

Against the Utah Jazz, Lillard dropped a career-high 59 points and also set a new Blazers franchise record.

He surpassed Damon Stoudemire’s record of 54, set in the 2004-05 season, with the third 50-point game of his career. It was Lillard’s 27th game with 30 or more points this year, which is also a franchise high.

The two-time All-Star shot 18-of-34 from the field and was unconscious from three-point range as he connected on 9-of-14 from downtown to lead his team to a 101-86 win over the Jazz.

He also impressively tallied six rebounds, five assists and zero turnovers. No other Blazer had more than 12 points on the night. C.J. McCollum, in particular, struggled badly from the field shooting just 4-of-20.

The victory sees Portland stay locked into the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference and with Dame in this mood, there's no way the Trail Blazers can allow themselves to throw it away as they lead the Denver Nuggets by a game and a half.

The 26-year-old had an opportunity to top 60 points but he somehow managed to miss two free throws late in the game. He blamed teammate Noah Vonleh for this mishap after he shouted out his points total.

"When I missed the second one and everybody was like, 'Ohhh,' I was like, 'What happened?' Then I made the last one and looked up, and I had 59," he said. "And I was like, it's Noah's fault."

Lillard's 59 points are the third most points by a player this season after Klay Thompson dropped 60 and Devin Booker went off for 70.

If that wasn't enough, the Blazers superstar also became the first player in NBA history to tally 59+ points and nine or more three-pointers in a game.

However, Lillard showed his class after the game as he decided to gift the game ball to Utah veteran Joe Johnson as he scored his 20,000th point during the loss.
