Paul Pierce has made a career out of scoring baskets in every which way."The Truth," who is most known for his fantastic run with the Boston Celtics, is wrapping up his farewell tour with his hometown Los Angeles Clippers, as he has already announced his retirement at season's end.But there was still time on Monday night for one more Pierce memory.Late in Monday's 125-96 blowout victory over the Houston Rockets, Pierce hit one from the elbow. Not that elbow.Pierce somehow muscled home an improbable basket late in the game. And it was a big one.

Pierce was fouled by Troy Williams on the play and the ball got loose. On his follow through, Pierce hit the ball with his elbow. Somehow, it caromed off the glass and in the basket.

The basket was part of a season-high 10-point performance for Pierce, who is 39.

It also pushed him past another Celtics legend John Havlicek for 15th place all-time on the NBA list. Pierce now has 26,397 points. He's 99 short of Tim Duncan for 14th (go for 100 on Wednesday, Truth!).

Fans on Twitter recognized Pierce's accomplishment in full force.

Pierce has played 15 years in the NBA, including 15 with the Celtics after being draft No. 10 by the Celtics in 1998. He won one championship ring with the team and went to 10 All-Star teams.

In the twilight of his career, he played one season with the Brooklyn Nets, one with the Washington Wizards and is on year two of his run with the Clippers.

Pierce is averaging just 3.4 points per game this season, appearing in just 24 games for coach Doc Rivers. For his career, Pierce is averaging 19.7 points per game, with this 5.4 points per game run in two seasons with the Clippers definitely not helping that cause.

Clearly, there's reverence for Pierce throughout the NBA, including in his own locker room.

"It was cool to be a part of that," point guard Paul said. "It's a lot of buckets, man, and I'm glad I got the opportunity to see that because of what Paul has given to this game."

The Clippers wrap up their regular season on Wednesday night with a home game against the Sacramento Kings.

The Clips will then host a first-round playoff series against the Utah Jazz.

Barring injuries, it's unlikely that Pierce hits any game-winners or clutch shots for the Clippers in the playoff run.

But fans know you can't really even count out "The Truth."
