It could be make or break for the Cleveland Cavaliers when they play against the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday night later this week, as they need to win and for results to go their way if they are to have home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.Currently residing in second place in the Eastern Conference, the Cavaliers need to win against the Raptors, while also have the Boston Celtics (ranked first in the Eastern Conference) to lose against the Milwaukee Bucks. However, if you believe some reports, it appears as though the current NBA champions are conceding to the fact their run towards another title may have to go through Boston.According to CBS Sports, The Athletic's Jason Lloyd has reported that LeBron James is expected to sit the Cavaliers' final game against Toronto on Wednesday night later this week.

This is surprising when you take into account this is a game which they need to win in order to claim the number one seed in the Eastern Conference. Yet, it does help explain why the team recalled Kay Felder back from the Canton Charge earlier this week as well.

It doesn't exactly bode well for Cleveland when they play without their star player on the court. Including Monday night’s 124-121 overtime loss to the Miami Heat, the Cavaliers are 0-7 without their four-time NBA MVP this season.

It makes sense why Tyronn Lue has made the decision to rest James for this significant game when you take into account the team's and the player's situation.

The Cavaliers already have the number two seed locked up in the Eastern Conference, so they'll have home-court advantage for a proportion of the playoffs. James as well has nearly played 38 minutes a night at the age of 32, so understandably, they want to keep him fresh for the playoffs, the more important games.

If LeBron does miss Wednesday's game and Cleveland has their playoff game on Saturday as expected, this will mean the 13-time NBA All-Star would have had six days of rest since his last game. If he is rested though, this decision might not go down well with the league.

When you look at their record against playoff teams, the decision to rest James makes a little bit more sense as well, as while the Cavs are only 2-9 record against the Atlanta Hawks, Chicago Bulls, and Miami Heat this season, they are 6-1 against the Celtics and Raptors.

We'll have to wait one more day to see if James is going to be spending his eighth game of the season on the sidelines, or if the Cavaliers are going to put on a strong fight in order to try and reclaim the number one seed in the Eastern Conference.
