On Sunday, at his 74th attempt, Sergio Garcia finally claimed his maiden Major championship victory, after a play-off win against Justin Rose.

This win makes him the third Spanish person to win the Masters, and significantly, it would've been on Seve Ballesteros' 60th birthday.

Many pundits feel that the key to Garcia's success has been his passionate fiancee Angela Akins, who once was a reporter on the golf channel.

Akins comes from a very prestigious sporting family, and therefore she knows what it takes to succeed at the top level.

She has been a major influence on Garcia's life, and helped him achieve one of the best things in golf; winning a green jacket.

It was revealed that she left a number of notes on the bathroom mirror in the lead up and throughout the Masters.

These notes included many inspirational quotes from sporting greats such as Muhammad Ali and Jack Nicklaus.

Yet, the most important note she left for Garcia was before Sunday which was a quote of her own.

The note read: "Don't forget to be amazing today", and this crucially helped Garcia get through Sunday mentally, something he has constantly struggled with at Majors throughout his long career.

Garcia's win saw one of the most dramatic and emotional ends to a Masters, with him beating close Ryder Cup companion Justin Rose in a playoff on the 18th hole.

The pressure was on Garcia, as he and Rose headed into Sunday both leading the Masters at -6.

Garcia had a five-foot putt to win his first Major after Rose missed his birdie chance, yet, like most of his career, it was his putting that let him down, and he missed.

What happened next perhaps was turned the tide in Garcia's favour.

After his missed putt, Garcia looked absolutely devastated and looked very distressed and angry.

As he trudged off the 18th green, he received a passionate "come on!!!" from his fiancee Akins.

This changed his body language dramatically and he went on to win the 18th hole playoff and claim his first Major win.
