The WWE's love affair with pushing Roman Reigns, even when it's by twisting the truth, is still strong as ever.

The latest example comes by way of a Facebook post the company shared on its official page Thursday. In it, a video is featured showing The Shield and The Undertaker battling on SmackDown years ago.

"Four years ago today. The Shield's Path to The Undertaker was led by none other than... Roman Reigns," the caption reads. There's a problem with that comment, though, and it took WWE fans only a few minutes to poke a hole through the latest bit of "Reignsvisionist" history.

Here's the Facebook post itself, which is a pretty cool throwback moment regardless:

The catch here, as it was pointed out over and over again, is the fact that Dean Ambrose was the de-facto leader of The Shield at the time. The sequence comes from a match where The Undertaker actually selected Ambrose for the singles match this happened during.

Dean was also the only one in the group that captured a singles title, further pointing to why he was considered the unofficial leader of the group at the time.

Here's a look at some of the response on Facebook:

Some defended the WWE by saying that there were twisting the caption by claiming they were pointing to the fact that The Shield got the upperhand after Reigns speared him through the barricade, but... that seems a bit thin.

The WWE is in a strange spot with Reigns, where the plan is to continue putting him over following his huge victory over The Undertaker at Wrestlemania 33. There are no plans on "officially" turning him heel, but he continues to be showered by boos in every appearance he makes.

The perception that the WWE is shoving how amazing Reigns is down fans' throats isn't going away any time soon, and even seemingly innocents posts like this turn to these sorts of spats. Fans are hyper-sensitive to Reigns nonsense, while the WWE doesn't show any signs of slowing down.

The timing of this is also interesting. The Superstar Shakeup landed Dean Ambrose on RAW, putting all three members of the group on the same show again. Seth Rollins just beat Triple H in a feud that can, in a way, be traced back to the moment the group broke up years ago.

But I digress. The WWE social media team is either ran by masterminds who know exactly how to tweak fans, or really is just busy finding new ways to put Reigns over, facts be damned.
