Over the years, Barcelona have let a number of talented players leave the club for one reason or another. Some have left in search of more regular first team football, while others have moved on simply because they weren't wanted anymore.

For those in the latter category, just because they weren't wanted any longer doesn't make them bad players, and in fact, a former legend believes the club needs to bring one back into the fold.

Xavi hasn't been at the club for two years now, moving on to see out his playing days in Qatar in 2015, but it's clear that he still keeps track of developments at the club and isn't afraid to give his opinion on things they need to do in order to ensure they remain at the top of the game both at home and in Europe.

He, like everyone else that watches Barca regularly, won't have been able to ignore the fact that they've struggled in the full-back position this season.

Constantly, the Blaugrana have struggled to find an adequate right-back ever since Dani Alves left over the summer with Aleix Vidal finding it difficult to make the position his own, leaving Sergi Roberto to come in and perform a makeshift role.

And because of that, the veteran midfielder has suggested that the club should re-sign the popular Brazilian if they want to make sure that they can keep up with the likes of Real Madrid at the top of the table.

Alves played a key part in Juve's 3-0 win over Barca in the Champions League during the week, proving that despite his advancing years he still has a lot to offer at the highest level.

Speaking in an interview with Goal, the legendary midfielder highlighted this and quickly heaped praise on his old teammate, hinting that the club need to do what they can to bing him back.

“For me, he is the best right-back in the world at the moment. Barca misses him a lot,” he said.

However, the chances of luring Alves back to the club will prove difficult. First, they would have to convince Juve to sell him, which would be nigh on impossible considering how he's been playing this season.

And secondly, Alves recently gave an interview claiming he no longer felt wanted by the club towards the end of his stay there. Given his new lease of life in Italy, it's doubtful that he'd want to return to that despite his great affection for the club.
