There was a time that the Milan derby was one of the biggest matches on the football calendar.Unfortunately, Italian football isn’t quite as popular as it once was while Inter Milan and AC Milan are now living in the shadow of Juventus. Many football fans might not even realised that the two Milan clubs did battle at 11:30am on Saturday morning. Those football fans that weren’t aware will be wishing they had tuned in because they missed an absolute cracker of a match that rekindled the Milan derbies of old.Inter entered the game two points behind Milan as they both seek a top five finish in order to qualify for European football next season. And Inter looked as though they were on course for bragging rights when they went 2-0 up before half-time. Andrea Candreva’s opener was doubled by Marco Icardi as they looked to leapfrog Milan into sixth. However, it was all set up for a dramatic finish.Alessio Romagnoli pulled one back with seven minutes remaining before Cristian Zapata scored a dramatic 97th-minute equaliser. Incredible scenes.

Inter were devastated but everyone associated with Milan were delighted.

And that includes former players - like Mario Balotelli.

Despite bursting onto the scene with Inter, winning three league titles and a Champions League for the club as a youngster, Balotelli has publicly declared that he is a big Milan fan.

He soon got his dream move to his boyhood club in 2012, when he joined Milan from Manchester City - before rejoining them on loan from Liverpool for the 2015/16 season.

And, after the derby, Balotelli reminded everyone that he’s still a supporter of the Rossoneri.

He posted on Twitter immediately after the final whistle, showing an image of Inter players looking gutted.

Balotelli's tweet

He wrote: “Insult me all you like. I don’t give a …. #forzamilan #shhhhhh #felice.”

Wow.

The tweet has already got more than 4,000 retweets and has, understandably, angered Inter fans.

That’s not the best way to treat a former club where he had so much success, is it?
