Finn Balor’s run of popularity within the WWE Universe has been very noticeable since the moment that his arrival at the company was announced. When he finally got called-up to the main roster from NXT, the organisation had to know that they had a real star on their hands.

However, the path to this point hasn’t exactly been picture perfect as he hasn’t even competed in 10 matches on WWE programming since making his RAW debut. Although, one of those matches was his Universal Championship win at last year’s SummerSlam.

His return to action last week after eight months rehabbing injuries was a great moment, but then he suffered a concussion during his match with Jinder Mahal. Balor has suffered significant injuries enough now that it has to be a growing concern within the company.

WWE removed him from last weekend’s live events, and it was thought that he would be in for another stint on the trainer’s table. New developments today should help ease some of the fears of officials and fans.

PWInsider is reporting that The Demon King is in Columbus for RAW and is waiting to undergo a physical to determine where he is at physically after the concussion. This is great news as he hasn’t been totally put on the shelf by the company.

Balor would need to pass an Impact test in order to be fully cleared and that is better than the initial reports that had him missing extended time before doctors would perform anymore tests. Now, the challenge will be getting ready to go and avoiding pitfalls like this at all costs.

Another high profile injury would greatly hinder his efforts to ever reach the top of the WWE ladder again. Even so, Vince McMahon and other brass are looking to give him every opportunity to come back from this concussion.

The Demon King has proved his talent and become the WWE’s Universal Champion before, but McMahon is unlikely to invest significant resources into a performer who consistently gets injured. The company’s track record should make Balor exercise caution.

One more unlucky tumble and he could find himself with a ceiling on his performance that seemed unfathomable last year. The fact that a talent’s career could be decided by those thin margins is enough to cause some concern.

Fans have already seen Balor come back from worse injuries than a concussion, but in the end, that might not be the biggest struggle he might end up facing in his career if he can’t stay out of the trainer’s room.
