Just days after performing the last rites of his dad ahead of the new Indian Premier League season, Rishabh Pant demonstrated why he is considered by many to be one of the best hitters in modern cricket.

The teenager went on to hit an impressive 57-run innings for the Delhi Daredevils against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL 2017 encounter.

The 19-year-old's impressive performance against the Daredevils continued on from an incredible performance in the previous match against Kolkata Knight Riders, in which Pant took the in-form veteran Umesh Yadav for 26 runs in an over.

It wasn't until the final over in which Pant's knock came to an end as he was caught by Gautam Gambir off Nathan Coulter-Nile's bowling.

But, it was clear for everyone to see that Pant's performance prior to being caught had left Gambir furious, as he struggled to contain his emotions once Pant was finally caught.

To say Pant and Gambhir have an awkward relationship would be an understatement.

The two have played one full season together for Delhi in the domestic campaign, however, the season ended with the younger Pant replacing the 35-year-old as captain of the team

You can see Pant's remarkable over in the video below.

Three sixes in one over is always quite a special moment.

In his last four matches, Pant has now scored 57, 31, 15, and 38 and should this type of form continue, not many will be surprised if the teenager is selected to represent India at the ICC Champions Trophy in June.

Pant was applauded by fans and pundits after the match, both for his performance, and his courage to compete so soon after his father's passing.

The Daredevils next game is against the Kings XI this Sunday.

On current form, should Pant be considered for the Indian Cricket team? Is he one of the stars of the future? Have YOUR say in the comments below.
