There are contrasting views on Brock Lesnar as the Universal Champion, with many unhappy at the fact that another part-time star is holding one of the biggest prizes in the company.

On the other hand, we have those that are excited to see how his latest run as champion unfolds; how he’ll tear through opposition before eventually dropping the red strap to a lucky Monday Night RAW star.

UNIVERSAL CHAMPIONSHIP PLANS

One thing fans aren’t overly excited about right now, though, is that tentative plans have The Beast Incarnate dropping the Universal Championship next year at WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans – to Roman Reigns.

Before that, Lesnar looks to have a mammoth task in front of him as rumours have suggested that The Big Dog will lose to Braun Strowman at Payback, setting up a title match between the pair at either the Extreme Rules or Bad Blood pay-per-view.

It’s expected that Lesnar will retain, so focus then turns to the biggest party of the summer – SummerSlam.

WWE will obviously know who they have in mind to be a potential opponent for Lesnar, but no names have been revealed right now so all we can discuss is the speculation and The Inquisitr has shared the names of three top RAW stars that are rumoured to be in the running for a main event spot in Brooklyn.

They’re claiming that Seth Rollins could be in the running once his feud with Samoa Joe comes to an end.

THREE POTENTIAL OPPONENTS

Lesnar and Rollins have had a feud before where the roles were reversed, and that all kicked off when The Architect performed the heist of the century when he cashed-in his Money in the Bank contract at WrestleMania 31 to become WWE Champion.

It was revealed this week that Vince McMahon is still a big fan of Jeff Hardy and is planning to give him another major singles run once the Broken gimmick officially arrives on television.

Apparently, his match against Cesaro acted as a trial run to see whether fans still respond to him the way they did, and it’s clear he’s still universally popular with fans.

Lesnar has been touted as an opponent which WWE is targeting for Jeff, along with the third name that is in the running to face Lesnar.

It was thought that Finn Balor would immediately be thrown back into the title picture once he returned from injury, but that doesn’t look to be the case right now.

Recently, he was in the headlines for reportedly suffering a concussion while his next feud looks to be against Bray Wyatt, but considering SummerSlam is months away, he has plenty of time to stake his claim at the title he never lost.
