The Portland Trail Blazer’s 123-103 loss to the Golden State Warriors ended their season after a year-long struggle to enter the postseason. The Dubs largely enforced their will on the plucky eighth seed and eventually overpowering them in four straight games.Damian Lillard promised a fight before the series started and believed that his team honestly had a chance to do what many thought was impossible. He averaged 27 points over the four games and did everything you would want a superstar to do, but it was not enough.Near the end of Game 3, it was abundantly clear that the final game of the season would be on their home floor in front of the fans that had been so eager ahead of this series. All the observers outside of Portland acknowledged it was all over but the crying. As things got going in the first quarter, the ominous feeling in the Moda Center continued to grow as the Blazers fell behind 45-22 after the first quarter. Fortunately for fans, Portland’s social media team is top notch and scripted the perfect tweet to capture the moment.

Their work didn’t stop there as they continued to make updates at halftime and after the third quarter as the lead stayed relatively the same. It seemed like their social team was competing just as hard as the Blazers on the floor were.

At the end of it all, there were some congratulations passed the Warriors’ way for taking the series and the losing team had a lot to be proud of. Golden State was the number one overall seed in the entire NBA playoffs and there is no shame in falling as a huge underdog.

For the past two seasons, the Dubs have ended the Blazers’ season. This year, the team was forecasted to make the next step after a surprising second round appearance last spring. Down the stretch of this campaign, it became clear that the squad was clearly limited.

Those are tough pills to swallow for somebody that feels like he is the best player on the court anytime that he steps foot on the hardwood, much like Dame Dolla does. Maybe one day he can get through the Warriors and reach his goal of an NBA championship.

For now, the only thing to do is take it in stride like the team did on Twitter. After all, there is always next year to look forward to.
