Paul Pogba has found that having the world's biggest price tag has provoked an intense level of scrutiny on his performances this season.

Even when the £89 million summer signing has played well for Manchester United, critics have still picked faults with his game - such is the nature of being the world's most expensive player.

Nevertheless, it hasn't been a total disaster for the former Juventus star.

As well as winning the League Cup, Pogba could still add the Europa League trophy to his cabinet this season and has contributed seven goals and five assists across all competitions from midfield too.

Of course, those tallies could still be improved but there is little doubt the 24-year-old has come a long way from the days when he first broke through at Old Trafford.

Pogba was always considered a talented youngster at the club but his desire for more first team football vocal saw him leave for Juventus.

Despite his burgeoning reputation, Pogba wasn't given any special treatment by the senior Red Devils stars when he first started training with them.

Ex-Man United favourite Nemanja Vidic was at the club during Pogba's first training session with the team and has revealed what happened.

Lots of clubs have initiations for their new players to perform and United had one of sorts too which basically involved getting kicked from Paul Scholes in training.

"Paul was only 17 and already as physically strong as he is now, with a very good physique," Vidic told ESPN.

"Paul Scholes would kick him and test him, just as he did when I arrived. Scholes was showing the will to win, showing that we were not friends kicking the ball about, but that we trained tough and strong, as if we were in matches.

"It was: 'You kick me and I kick you.' We fought every day and didn't need to switch on for a game because we were always switched on.

"United had a lot of players like that, who were so competitive. That meant we were better prepared, even more than some of the best teams, who had great players but not the same drive to win."

So perhaps that's why Man United have struggled in the post-Ferguson years, Scholes isn't there to kick the hell out of anyone and everyone who has become too comfortable!
