Bayern Munich followed up their controversial Champions League exit at holders Real Madrid last week with a surprising 3-2 DfB Cup semi-final loss at home to rivals Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday. That said, Carlo Ancelotti still remains on course to lead Bayern to a fifth consecutive German title and lift silverware at the end of his first year, given their current eight-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga. The European giants have failed to win their last two league games, but a more longer term problem they may be facing is the potential exit of one of their star players.

Liverpool are currently third in the Premier League and Jurgen Klopp is well aware that a sure way of being able to attract the world's best players is by securing Champions League football for next season.

With that in mind, Reds fans will be very pleased to hear that one Bayern player has sparked talk of a summer transfer to Anfield after his most recent activity on social media.

Bayern star to Liverpool this summer?

That man is Douglas Costa, and as you can see below, he liked a tweet from a supporter daring to dream about Liverpool's attacking force next season.

"Philippe Coutinho, Douglas Costa and Roberto Firmino. I can already envision the best attack in Europe in 17/18", is how the tweet translates into English.

Costa's Bayern career

The devastating winger was exceptional in his first campaign in Bavaria, with his dynamism and directness proving to be a deciding factor in many games and adding a whole new dimension to then-manager Pep Guardiola's already impressive attack.

However, the 26-year-old has endured a frustrating time under Ancelotti, suffering a severe lack of game time and being limited to just 18 starts in all competitions so far this term.

For Bayern's key games, he's largely fallen behind veterans Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery in the pecking order, and Costa was on the bench yet again for the defeat to Dortmund in mid-week.

His decision to like a tweet about him signing for Liverpool, despite his Twitter handle not being included in it, is sure to get the rumour mill swirling ahead of what's sure to be a busy transfer window for the Premier League's biggest clubs.

As the tweet suggested, a front four of outstanding summer signing Sadio Mane and Brazilian trio Costa, Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho would be as good as anything in England.
