Since being given his marching orders by Crystal Palace back in December, Alan Pardew has mostly kept his head down where football has been concerned. However, he made something of a comeback this week when he was invited to the studio to act as a pundit for Liverpool's meeting with Watford on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football. But despite re-emerging onto our screens, he couldn't help but embarrass himself with some misguided comments about Chelsea full-back Marcos Alonso.Antonio Conte bringing the Spaniard on board last summer certainly raised a few eyebrows – after all this is a man who failed to impress at Bolton Wanderers for three years between 2010-13 – so nobody expected him to work out the way he has this term. The 26-year-old has been one of the stars of Chelsea's title chasing campaign, and should they managed to get their hands on the trophy he can rest knowing that he played a major part in bringing it back to Stamdford Bridge. But it seems that Pards isn't too clued up on what Alonso has to offer, judging by his comments..."This is an inexperienced player. No-one would have imagined he'd play this role [LWB] as well as he has," he said via the Mirror. Now, wait a minute, while Alonso may not be on the levels of Messi and Ronaldo, he has actually made over 220 games in his career, where he has turned out for the likes of Real Madrid and Fiorentina in the process. He's hardly an unknown quantity.Fans were quick to pounce on this little slip up and let Pardew know that he might not know as much as he thinks he knows.Check the best reactions below...

Oof, they've had him there.

In fairness to Pardew, nobody could have expected that Alonso would have had such an impact, but given that he's already featured for both Bolton and Sunderland in his career, there's a good chance that Pardew will have come up against him at some point.

Do better, Alan.
