We’ve all decided to have a weekend flutter on the football accumulators in the hope that the footballing gods will be kind and the results will go our way.For 28-year-old Kenyan Samuel Abisai, that’s exactly what happened and he netted himself a cool £1.6 million! Abisai guessed the results of 17 football matches to win his massive prize.The 28-year-old from the western state of Kakamega plans to spend his winnings on his local community and the local football team.Sports betting firm SportPesa have said that Abisai has received the biggest betting pay-out in Kenya’s history.Just to show how big the winnings truly are, the average salary in Kenya is about £116.Ronald Karauri, head of SportPesa, led a convoy including a large stretch Limousine to the lucky winner’s home town Thika, which is 27 miles outside of the country’s capital Nairobi.Father-of-one Abisai, has reportedly told journalists in Nairobi: “I think I am not going to bet again.”Three quarters of Kenyan 17-to-35-year-old's have admitted to placing a bet according to a recent survey by GeoPoll. The survey’s findings make Kenyans the biggest gamblers in sub-Saharan Africa.Kenyans regularly use online betting apps with reportedly 76 percent 17-to-35-year-old's betting.

Across the same demographic, the poll showed a worrying trend across the region with 57% of Ugandans betting regularly.

Football betting reigns supreme across Kenya, with Kenyan youth spending as much as $50 a month.

The Kenyan government is worried by this trend and has slapped a 50% tax on bookmakers, lottery companies, and sports betting sites.

Thankfully for Samuel Abisai, the tax comes into effect next year. The 28-year-old has stated that top of his wish list is a new car and he hopes to invest in real estate.

The 28-year-old works for a Chinese company and speaks fluent Mandarin, however, he has not decided if he is going to give up his job yet!
