Who is the best player in the world: Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo?

Well, according to Ballon d’Or triumphs, it’s Messi after the Argentine has won five compared to Ronaldo’s four.

However, Ballon d’Or wins isn’t necessarily the most accurate measurement when it comes to judging players. If that was the case, Michael Owen is better than the likes of Xavi, Raul and Gianluigi Buffon.

Judging their talent on the success of their respective sides isn’t accurate either considering they have to rely on 10 other teammates.

Therefore, the only possible way to decide who is better is by playing a video game, right?

That’s what YouTuber WorldOfPES attempted to do. He decided to play a Team of Messi’s vs a Team of Ronaldo’s to see who would win.

Only then could they be crowned as the best player in the world.

While a line-up of Messi’s and Ronaldo’s might appear exciting, they aren’t very good in goal.

Team Messi v Team Ronaldo

That’s why we saw such an entertaining match. Take a look:

So, there we have it - Ronaldo is the best player in the world after beating Team Messi 6-4 on PES.

Back to real life and the race for the 2017 Ballon d’Or is very much on between the two.

Messi has been in incredible form and stunned the footballing world with his brace against Real Madrid in El Clasico.

However, Barca have crashed out of the Champions League and look set to lose out to Madrid in the La Liga title race.

As for Ronaldo, he’s hoping to lead Los Blancos to a league and Champions League double.

His consecutive hat-tricks against Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals and Atletico Madrid in the semi-finals have put the Portuguese superstar front of the running to win his fifth Ballon d’Or.
