The WWE has been the source of entertainment for decades for several reasons, one of them being the creative team that keeps the ship sailing.

Kevin Eck, a former WWE creative team member, now spends some of his writing talents as a blogger for outlet PressBox. Eck's latest contribution is something unique that only he could share with fans.

Eck, who calls his pairing of AJ Lee and Daniel Bryan one of his greatest creative decisions, decided to share a handful of storyline ideas that were ultimately scrapped. There are some fascinating ideas that may have made for sports entertainment gold.

The first storyline pitch would have been something unique and fitting. The Lee and Bryan angle would have gone on to successfully send Lee to a mental institution, only for her to return with The Lunatic Fringe himself. The two would have become a couple while patients at the facility.

"Ambrose and AJ would wreak havoc, becoming WWE's version of Bonnie and Clyde," Eck writes.

The next idea that was shot down may have actually led to the birth of The Shield. Eck wanted a group of developmental talents, feature Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Kassius Ohno to invade the WWE for the 1000th episode of RAW.

The idea was shot down, but what comes next is history.

"Several months later it was decided Punk, who was WWE champion at the time, would get three guys from developmental to become his henchmen and help him retain the title. I suggested my trio of Ambrose, Rollins and Ohno to Triple H in a booking meeting.

"Triple H said he already had Ambrose and Rollins in mind, but instead of Ohno, he wanted Roman Reigns, and thus The Shield was born," Eck wrote.

Next up was an interesting angle to escalate the feud between Big Show and Alberto Del Rio. Del Rio's famed masked luchador father, Dos Caras, would get involved but would end up being unmasked by Big Show as the ultimate sign of disrespect.

Eck notes it was shot down because Vince McMahon doubted the audience would understand the importance behind a luchador's mask and secret identity.

Next up was an angle featuring Cody Rhodes and Kaitlyn, with the babyface Kaitlyn coming between heel-duo Rhodes and Damien Sandow. The reason why? Kaitlyn's self-admitted love for a man with a mustache, and her urging him to stop being a villain.

"Rhodes had started sporting a cheesy, thin mustache that immediately caught the attention of the fans, who chanted "Cody's moustache" during his matches. WWE Diva Kaitlyn had tweeted several times in the past that she had a thing for guys with moustaches. This one was a no-brainer -- or so I thought," Eck wrote.

His last denied pitch is a doozy, once again featuring Rhodes. The WWE was trying to figure out a way to turn Rhodes into Stardust, and Eck's idea would have been a perfect homage to the iconic duo of Goldust and Marlena.

"I suggested we play off the fact the veteran Goldust was getting a bigger reaction from the crowd than his younger brother. Feeling that Goldust is hogging the spotlight, Rhodes turns on him and becomes Stardust.

"It's revealed Brandi was the one who planted the seed in her husband's mind that his brother was using him to stay relevant and keep him from becoming the star of the team. Brandi's plan is for Stardust to become bigger than Goldust ever was, and she adopts a look and mannerisms that are reminiscent of Goldust's former wife/valet, Marlena," Eck revealed.

Some of these would've made for pretty awesome television, with that Goldust-Stardust angle being a bit extra-compelling for longtime fans.
