When Wladimir Klitschko floored Anthony Joshua in the sixth round on Saturday, there were fears the 27-year-old Brit was about to suffer his first career defeat.

Joshua was rocked, and when he eventually got back to his feet, Klitschko quickly went in for the kill by launching another series of punches.

He survived the round and eventually went on to win by TKO in the 11th, but his trainer, Rob McCracken, was convinced he was going to lose.

McCracken told reporters: "100% when he (Joshua) got knocked down (in the sixth), when he got hit with the biggest punch in his career.

"But we knew he could regroup and if he stayed with me and listened to me I would get him through it.

"We have drilled him for 12 weeks he has hated it but I have been lucky - this is the stuff dreams are made of.

"His will to win and determination has been the most impressive thing for us. He was getting mobbed a bit in the ring at the end but he is a great person. No one deserves it more than AJ."

Joshua showed intelligence by going into defensive mode in the sixth round, with Klitschko unable to land another significant blow.

Various revelations have been made about what the pair said to each other in the boxing ring and now Joshua has revealed what he told Klitschko after hitting the canvas.

Speaking to Colin Murray at Finchley Amateur Boxing Club yesterday in a FB Live session (see below at 8.31), he claimed he told Klitschko that if he didn't finish him off in the sixth, he was going to 'f*** him up'.

"I whispered to him," Joshua said. "If you watch the fight back, I was talking to him and I just told him: 'If you let me get through this round, I'm gonna beep (f***) you up'.

"And he said: 'I'm going to knock you out', and I said: 'I'm deadly serious'. It's competition talk."

And sure enough, after Joshua survived the onslaught, he worked his way back into the fight and eventually recorded his 19th career win by TKO. Machine.
