Well, it seems Arsenal may have a fondness for the Bundesliga with scouts from the side at the fixture between FC Koln and Werder Bremen - the former winning 4-3 on Friday night.

The news comes from BT Sport journalist, Archie Rhind-Tutt, who said on Twitter that scouts from Arsenal, Manchester City, West Brom and Burnley were present in Cologne.

From a Gunners perspective, there may be a whole host of players the scouts were keen to see with Koln striker Anthony Modeste more than likely on their list.

The former Blackburn Rovers flop has enjoyed a renaissance in Germany and scored a hattrick in the game, his third one of the season as he racked up his 25th league goal of the campaign.

Are the Gunners looking for a new man to lead the line? It could be entirely possible with Alexis Sanchez looking ever more likely to leave and Olivier Giroud attracting the interest of Marseille.

Former Arsenal man Serge Gnabry was also on the scoresheet for the away side, taking his Bundesliga tally to 11 for the season.

As for Modeste, the scouts will certainly be urging the board to put in a bid after yet another stellar performance.

Whether he is the marquee signing Gunners fans are crying out for is another matter, but it would certainly represent good business - particularly as they're unlikely to have Champions League football.

They may want the likes of Antoine Griezmann, Alexandre Lacazette and Romelu Lukaku but given their current predicament, that idea may be too farfetched.
